International

International consciousness, cultural literacy and engagement with the diverse people and issues of the world have been part of the Notre Dame experience from the University’s founding in 1842.

Notre Dame ranks #8 for highest percentage of study abroad participation (57.4%) among the top forty doctorate institutions according to Open Doors 2010, the annual report on international education released by the Institute of International Education. Few universities offer a wider variety of international experiences for students with more than 40 study-abroad programs in 21 countries. These programs include semester-long, year-long, summer-long, and other, more customized programs.

One of a handful of truly international universities, our student body draws from all 50 states and 100 countries.

International Student Services and Activities provides services and programs to international students and their families that include pre-arrival correspondence, orientation, newsletters, general advising, counseling, resource and referral, cultural education, and community outreach.
