THE CLUB

CHARACTER AND MISSION

The University Club of Notre Dame is a private not-for-profit organization whose membership includes faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the University.  The Club was founded in 1958 and is situated on the edge of the campus down Notre Dame Avenue across from the Eck Notre Dame Visitors' Center. The Club is a place with elegance and charm for members of the University community. The organization is more than merely a social club. It provides a forum and a focal point where ideas can be exchanged and friendships deepened in a congenial, informal, atmosphere. The mission of the club is to make a significant contribution to the recreational and cultural life of the University.

The dual hallmarks of the club are great service and exceptional value for members. The club is an excellent place for campus members to have lunch. The menu is excellent and varied, including heart-healthy selections, and the prices are very reasonable. Dinner at the club is a bit more formal, but the atmosphere remains very relaxed and the very reasonable price structure remains.

The club is open to members for:
Lunch service Monday - Friday from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m
Diner service Monday - Saturday from 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. D
Bar service is available Monday - Thursday from 11:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Friday from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 midnight, and Saturday from 5:00 p.m. - 12:00 midnight.

The space in the club permits flexibility in accommodating, in excellent fashion, individual diners, various size groups, as well as large scale receptions. The several rooms in the club are:

STADIUM ROOM

Directly at the end of the lobby is the Stadium Room (also called the Main Lounge). This room is used for dances, weddings and receptions, banquets, meetings, and other soical gatherings. The Stadium Room easily converts into three separate units with the use of built-in wall dividers. An excellent view of the new Notre Dame Stadium can be seen from the east window. While the north windows face a lovely patio with oak and birch trees and has a great view of the DeBartolo Quad. The Stadium Room offers a close view of many of the steins and tankards of the Gore collection.

RATHSKELLER and STEIN ROOM

To the right of the lobby is the Rathskeller, our dining room. Lunch is served Monday through Friday; dinner Monday through Saturday. The focal point of the room is the large arched brick fireplace. The room features an interesting vaulted redwood ceiling and large display cases of the many steins and tankards of the Gore Collection. Seating capacity is 140 in the Rathskeller. Adjoining the Rathskeller is the Stein Room which is serviced by the Main Bar and provides a place for gatherings that are not in the usual flow of activity.

LIBRARY ROOM

Located off the Rathskeller is the Library. This room is ideal for small groups to meet, have meals, or just to relax and enjoy reading.

Excellent dining is only one aspect of the club. The social activities arranged through the club, e.g., special dinner dances, children's parties, theater trips, ocean cruises, and educational seminars can provide a focal point for the recreational and intellectual life of the members. The club is an ideal place to enjoy fine relaxed dining, to held departmental or other group meetings, or to participate in the interesting social/cultural events.

The fine dining at affordable prices, the interesting social activities, and very capable and personalized attention given make the University Club an attractive place and is in the tradition of Notre Dame excellence.
