SUMR at Notre Dame

Welcome to the SUMR website

The Seminar for Undergraduate Mathematical Research (SUMR) is a program designed for Notre Dame's most talented mathematics students. Its goal is to provide undergraduates with an especially strong mathematical background. It also strives to ensure that its graduates can pursue graduate work in one of the mathematical sciences (Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, and Electrical Engineering).

SUMR graduates have established a remarkable tradition of accomplishment in postgraduate work, as you will see from a perusal of this site. No other Notre Dame program has such a high percentage of its graduates winning national fellowships. You will also find here a description of the program, its requirements, and the manner in which students are selected for it.

Admission to SUMR is by invitation only. If you wish to be considered for membership in SUMR contact Professor Frank Connolly at connolly.1@nd.edu

SUMR students must be mathematics majors.
