Having completed almost five decades at Notre Dame, Dr. Sayre finds occasion now and then to comment on current University affairs from an historical perspective.  Some of these comments have been published in local media.  Others were originally conveyed in personal correspondence of a sort that seems appropriate for public disclosure.
