Scooter for Injured Students

The Office of Student Affairs in partnership with the University Health Services offers battery powered scooters to students during times of injuries that hinder mobility to our students.  The program is administrated by the Security Police Department and University Health Services.

Victory Scooter

  • scooter speed is 4.5 m.p.h
  • rechargeable battery
  • adjustable seat and arms
  • appropriate use on sidewalk, indoors and outdoors
  • verification by UHS that student may use a scooter
  • maximum use of scooter 8 weeks
  • UHS (physicians or RNs) will grant extensions if necessary
  • students responsibility for damages; student account will be charged if necessary
  • $50 charge for lost key / cord (per item)
  • scooters available on a first come basis

The University Health Services can be contacted at (574) 631-7497 for specific questions in reference to the procedure and information needed in assigning a scooter to a student.  

The scooter is not authorized to be taken outside the University Campus.

The Security Police Department representative Don Nemeth dnemeth@nd.edu can be contacted at (574) 631-5559 in reference to questions specific to the scooters as to the availability, storage, pickup and use.
