The next year Brian "Whippy" Weidmann and I were housemates. That was the year Brian got his nickname, partly because there were three Brians--Weidmann, Johns and McCarthy--in the club and partly because of an incident at the Commons (for full details you'll have to ask me). I was always impressed with Brian's focus. And after he started to practice Aikido he developed the most graceful free uekemis--they seemed to be in slow motion--I have ever seen.
