The
Notre Dame emeritus professor of philosophy edits a collection
of essays that provides a scholarly and historic review of Galileo
and his difficult dealings with the Catholic Church.
Contributors analyze the interactions of the church and Galileo
over the 30 years between 1612 and his death in 1641, and discuss
the political landscape of the times and the effectiveness of
the censorship of his work.
The book is part of the "Studies in Science and the Humanities"
series from the Reilly Center for Science, Technology and Values
at Notre Dame.
