A re-issue of the famed ND football coach's only novel. Originally published in 1925 for a young adult audience, the story follows the challenges that beset novice football player Elmer Higgins.

Higgins, who was rejected by his high school varsity team, tries out for football at Dulac University and makes the cut. As he faces a series of challenges, including a knee injury and sarcastic comments from his former coach, he learns that intelligence on the field and off counts as much as physical strength and that values have count most of all.
