Reading
the former ND basketball coach's book is like sharing a beer with
a voluble old pal. The ESPN commentator coached the Fighting Irish
for 20 years and had plenty of stoires to tell. Whether divulging
the practical jokes he both played and endured, detailing the
excitement of wins over number-one-ranked teams or naming his
all-time Notre Dame teams, Phelps keeps up a lively patter.
He also writes about his relationship with various Domers, including
Father Theodore Hesburgh, CSC, president emeritus of the University,
and various footbal and other coaches.
