David Mayernik '83 (Westview Press)
The
former visiting professor at Notre Dame's School of Architecture
here presents a tour through five Italian cities -- Venice, Rome,
Florence, Siena and Pienza -- with an emphasis on how they were
designed to be models of the mind and images of heaven.
The book's view of the five cities "opens their meaing and
their beauty to us," notes archiectect Carroll William Westfall,
"But more importantly, it tells us how we can love cities
and thereby once again build cities we can love."
Mayerik is a practicing architect, painter and educator who was
named one of the top 40 architects of his generation in the United
States.
