Did the University decide to cap enrollment in the business college?

Last year a report from the Provost's Office to University trustees showed that almost one out of every three members of the class of 2003 earned a business degree. That was up from about one in four 10 years ago and about one in five 25 years ago. The average at the other national universities ranked in the top 20 by U.S. News & World Report is just 7 percent.

The Provost's Office is considering measures to balance out enrollment among the colleges. These will likely include limiting the number of transfer students admitted to the business college starting with the 2005-06 school year.

A number of voluntary measures are also being investigated. One would guarantee Arts and Letters majors spaces in a Business Principles program. This would allow them to gain some practical training in business without having to switch colleges.
