Comedian Michael Somerville '94 has a new gig -- relationship columnist for Glamour
Magazine. "Jake: A Man's Opinion" has been part of the magazine since the 1950s and has been
written by a series of single men over the years, but this is the first time the columnist is not
anonymous.
The 34-year-old comic, who has been called "one to watch" by The New York Times, will
offer advice from a male perspective to women on their dating quandaries. He won the columnist
job when 36,000 people voted for him over two other contenders in a contest sponsored by Glamour in partnership with the CBS The Early Show.
"I haven't met my soul mate yet, so I see my Glamour column as an opportunity for
women and me to learn and grow," Somerville told the magazine's readers. He continues to
perform stand-up on the comedy circuit and has appeared on VH1, the season finale of The
Apprentice II and Nick at Nite's road crew.
