Florida Fling
Executive Vice President John Affleck-Graves will be the guest
speaker at the Florida Fling, February 17-18, 2006. The new location
for the annual winter reunion will be the Registry Resort &
Club in Naples, Florida. The registration brochure will be mailed
in early December to all alumni residing in Florida or who have

Christmas Under the Dome
The 2005 University ornament, "Christmas Under the Dome," features
a golden Main Building, and each ornament contains gold taken
from the dome during its most recent gilding. The Main Building
ornaments can be ordered through the Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore
Christmas catalog or by visiting alumni.nd.edu/ornaments.html,
where the 2005 ornament, as well as ornaments from past years,
can be viewed. Proceeds benefit the Alumni Association's community
service and continuing education programs.
Travel with Notre Dame Priests
Two upcoming Alumni Travel programs will feature the expertise
of Notre Dame priests who have firsthand knowledge of their destination.
Alumni and friends of the University can accompany Father Jim
Ferguson, CSC, '61, on a safari to Kenya and Tanzania, February
25-March 10. Ferguson has spent nearly 20 years in ministries
in East Africa. The tour includes visits to the Serengeti National
Park and the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. An optional extension
is offered to the Spice Island of Zanzibar.
Father Robert S. Pelton, CSC, '45 will host a trip to Colonial
Mexico January 22-29. Pelton, a noted scholar on the Church in
Latin America, directs the University's Latin American Church
Concerns for the Kellogg Institute. Participants will visit the
spa of Cuernavaca, Cortés Palace, the pyramids of Xochicalco
and Mexico City.

Bellairs Joins Alumni Association
Christopher J. Bellairs '83 recently became the assistant vice
president for university relations and associate executive director
of the Alumni Association. In the newly created position, Bellairs
will oversee the daily operations of the Alumni Association while
Chuck Lennon '61, '62M.A., associate vice president for university
relations and executive director of the Alumni Association, continues
to direct alumni outreach and the institution of a departmental
strategic plan. Bellairs formerly served as chief financial officer
of the Expedia Travel Group.
Monk's Notre Dame
Stories and anecdotes from Father Edward Malloy's 18 years as
president of Notre Dame are collected in Monk's Notre Dame.
Throughout Malloy's book, fresh insights on traditional campus
events are interspersed with lesser-known student antics.

Image of Father Hesburgh
A portrait of Father Theodore Hesburgh, CSC, president emeritus
of the University, has been painted by artist Doug West and is
available in two versions -- the artist's proofs and lithographs
-- through the Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore. Both selections include
images of the Grotto, Word of Life mural and Golden Dome surrounding
the likeness of Hesburgh. A limited number of the paintings will
be signed by him.

Alumni and friends of the University can subscribe to NDA Today,
the Alumni Association's electronic newsletter, by sending an
email to ndalumni@nd.edu with "Subscribe" as the subject of the
email.
Irish Online, exclusively for alumni, offers
a free electronic directory of all living and deceased Notre Dame
graduates since 1900 as well as career networking and email forwarding.

Call to Protect
Cellular phones no longer in use can be donated to the Call to
Protect program, which provides reprogrammed phones to victims
of domestic violence. Phones and accessories are collected at
the Alumni Association hospitality area in the Joyce Center prior
to each home football game or at the Alumni office in the Eck
Center. Phones can also be mailed to the Notre Dame Club of Ann
Arbor, sponsor of the program, at 505 East Huron, Suite 403, Ann
Arbor MI 48104.

Advent
Calendar
The 2005 Notre Dame
Advent Calendar features a cover photo of the nighttime Grotto
in snow, donated by Matt Cashore '94. Windows for each day of
Advent open to a campus image complemented with lessons of the
holy season. The
calendar was produced for the third year by Kevin Sandberg, CSC,
'88, '04M.Th., with his sister, Eileen Trimble '89. Proceeds benefit
the Congregation of Holy Cross. The calendar is available at the
