University Band Frequently Asked Questions
-
What if I haven't played in a few years?
If you have previous band experience, but have not played for a while, that's
OK - we expect people to be rusty. We will tailor the initial rehearsals to mold
the ensemble and help get you back into playing shape.
-
What if I can come only a few times during the semester?
In order to attain a high level of musicianship, the band staff asks that those
interested be able to commit to the weekly rehearsals. A once-a-week commitment
is modest, but important in creating a good experience.
-
I don't own an instrument - can I borrow one?
A very limited number of school instruments will be available for use in this
ensemble. A formal check-out and inspection policy will be enforced. If you have
your own instrument, we highly encourage you to use it.
-
When does it start and what is the schedule?
For the Fall semester, rehearsals begin the first Monday of the semester, and
are held in the Band Building every Monday from 7:30-9:00 p.m., except for the
Monday of Fall Break. A concert will be performed in mid-November to early December.
During the Spring semester, rehearsals begin the first Monday of classes, and
are held in the Band Building every Monday from 7:30-9:00 p.m., except for the
Mondays of Spring Break and Easter Break. A concert will be performed sometime
in April.
