WHAT:

A one-day meeting of Midwest protein folding labs, featuring talks and posters (from graduate students and postdocs, plus a few PIs) covering all aspects of protein folding research, including:
1. In vitro experiments: protein folding, binding, aggregation, dynamics
2. In silico approaches: computational models and genome-wide approaches to understanding protein folds, dynamics, and folding mechanisms
3. Protein folding in vivo: co-translational folding, roles for molecular chaperones, misfolding/aggregation/amyloid formation, and cellular mechanisms for recognizing and clearing misfolded proteins

WHY:

 (1) To gather Midwestern protein folders together so we can learn more about each others’ research!
(2) To provide graduate students and postdocs with a forum for presenting their research results

REGISTRATION. Registration is FREE, but required. Online registration is accessible here. Registration deadline is May 6, 2008.
(This year, we are asking registrants to list their lab PI. Unfortunately, the only available field for this was "Roommate"! Please include your PI's name there, but don't worry: you won't have to share a room with him/her!)

PROGRAM. Meeting begins at 8:50am (coffee and pastries available at 7:30am); will conclude at 5:00pm with a beer/wine/munchies reception.

ABSTRACT formatting and submission for poster presentations. Speakers for talks will be selected from submitted abstracts. Abstracts are due April 14, 2008.

TRAVEL INFORMATION, including driving directions.

OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS are available at the Morris Inn (across the street from the meeting location).

AREA RESTAURANTS can be found in the South Bend/Mishawaka Visitor Guide, and there are two restaurants on campus, Legends (casual dining) and Sorin's (nicer dining; in the Morris Inn).
