Syllabus: | After reviewing the characteristics of the wireless channel,
we discuss current cellular and local area wireless networks (GSM, IS-95, UMTS, 3G, 4G, 802.11, 802.15, 802.16, 802.20, ZigBee, WiMax, HiperLAN, HomeRF, Bluetooth) to gain insight into their architectures and protocols. The second part of the course covers wireless ad hoc and sensor networks, addressing the challenges and proposed solutions, with an emphasis on modeling and cross-layer protocol design aspects. |
Projects: | Presentations and one research project. Topics will depend on the students' interests. |
