the challenges and proposed solutions, with an emphasis on modeling
and cross-layer protocol design aspects.  In the third part, we will
discuss emerging wireless technologies such as ultra-wideband,
software-defined radio, virtual antenna arrays, and cognitive radio
techniques and their use in future wireless networks.
