Ciberteca
"Una carta a Dios" by Gregorio López y Fuentes
Ciberteca is a uniquely crafted, visually exquisite stand-alone CD-ROM featuring one Spanish short story. In addition to the benefits of reading Spanish literature, this multimedia program focuses on vocabulary development for students of Spanish. It is based on solid theoretical research and incorporates visuals, text, and sound to support reading and vocabulary building. Some of its most outstanding features are:
1. Students learn according to their own learning styles (verbalizers vs. visualizers).
2. Multiple types of vocabulary annotations: Spanish definitions, English definitions, photographs, Quick-Time videos, and sound. Students can access any or all types of annotations.
3. Advance organizer video: Each story begins with a movie clip designed to facilitate global comprehension. It activates the learners' background knowledge on the topic and orients the student to the context of the story. In turn, this helps students in extrapolating the meaning of unknown words from the context.
4. Three types of comprehension activities; two styles of vocabulary tests.
5. 100% control: instructors/students have the capacity to turn all features on or off in order to guide learning.
