Membership
in the Liturgical Choir is open to all undergraduate and graduate
students of the University of Notre Dame. Membership is by audition
only; singers from all colleges and departments are welcome. Auditions
are conducted in August during the first week of the fall semester.
Dates and times will be announced by campus bulletin. Limited auditions
may also be held at other times throughout the year.
Members are expected to attend all rehearsals, liturgies, and performances
for which the Choir is scheduled. Regularly-scheduled rehearsals are
5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, and 8:30-10:00 AM Sunday.
Additional rehearsals may be scheduled as needed.
Tuesday rehearsals are held in 329 Coleman-Morse, and Thursday rehearsals
are held in the Basilica
of the Sacred Heart. The Choir sings at the 10:00 AM Solemn Mass in the
Basilica every Sunday while the University is in session.
Occasionally, the Choir sings at other liturgies, including Sunday
Evening Vespers, weddings, ordinations, dedications and major liturgical
feast days. Members are expected to remain on campus for the feast days
of Holy Week as well as for Senior Week in May.
