GovEngine.com - Comprehensive directory of official federal, state, and local government Web pages. Particularly good source for local executive and judicial branch information.

Jurist: The Legal Education Network - Geared toward the academic side of law with many submissions by law faculty. News and commentary on legal developments and a good source for documents in the news.

LegalEngine - Gateway to state and federal law-related links. Good source for forms, with links to self-help books, law review articles and legal reference sources such as dictionaries and style manuals.

LoisLaw - Notre Dame Law School Only; password required - More affordable alternative to Lexis and Westlaw for state and federal cases, statutes, constitutions and administrative law.

Federal

Constitution of the United States - Text of the Constitution and links to other historical documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the Federalist Papers.

Federal Agencies - Links to agency Web sites for news, directories and agency documents.

Federal Courts of Appeals and District Courts - Contains slip opinions for circuit, district and special federal courts with links to related agencies.

GPO Access
- Good source for current Federal Register and CFR text. Includes some administrative agency decisions and many legislative history documents.

House of Representatives - Web pages of individual Representatives for biographical information, press releases and contact information. Descriptions of House committees and subcommittees with links to schedules and hearing transcripts. A good summary of the legislative process.

LexisNexis Congressional - Bills, hearings, reports, committee prints, debates and public laws of the US Congress from 1789-present are indexed by subject, title, personal names, document numbers, and more. Full text of all documents indexed can be found in the law library’s microform collection, and electronic full text may be available for post-1984 documents.

Supreme Court of the United States - Official Supreme Court site. Contains opinions from 1991-present. Brief overview of the Court, a listing of all justices and biographies of the current members, oral argument calendar and transcripts, and information about obtaining briefs.

Thomas - Maintained by the Library of Congress, this is the best source for PDF versions of federal bills and bill status information. Links to the text of legislative documents including bills, hearings, reports, debates and public laws.

United States Senate - Home pages of Senators for biographical information, press releases and contact information. Descriptions of Senate committees and subcommittees with links to schedules and hearing transcripts.

The White House - Video, audio and transcripts of major speeches by the President and members of his cabinet. Press releases, executive orders and proclamations. Links to cabinet member biographies.

Hesburgh Library Reference Department - Main library Reference Department. Serves the entire university community. Good alternative when Law Library Research Department is unable to assist.

St. Joseph County Public Library - Ranked among the top ten public libraries in the U.S. and located approximately two miles from the law school. Their online catalog is similar to ours and easy to search.

South Bend Tribune - Electronic version of the local newspaper. Contains articles from 1994- present. No charge for reading articles published within the last seven days. Good source for area movie listings.

South Bend/Michiana.com – Dining, shopping, area attractions, churches, movie listings, transportation and much more.

South Bend Weather - Weather.com provides current conditions and a 10-day forecast.


General

Mapquest - Popular site for maps, directions and destination information.

Infospace - A person locator with Yellow Pages for a business search and White Pages for a people search. Provides a nifty reverse lookup.

Internet Public Library - Links to electronic dictionaries, encyclopedias and quotation sites. Contains several subject collections, including one for "Law, Politics & Government."

National Jurist
