George Howard (Ph.D. Southern Illinois) conducts research
on improving research methodology in several applied areas
of psychology. Teaching interests include courses in research
methodology, counseling theory and practice, program evaluation,
personality, narrative psychology, consultation, ecological
psychology, and philosophy of the social sciences. His books
include Issues in Alcohol Use and Misuse by Young Adults,
with P.E. Nathan (University of Notre Dame Press, 1994), Understanding
Human Nature: An Owner's Manual (Academic Publications, 1996),
Ecological Psychology: Creating a More Earth-friendly Human
Nature (University of Notre Dame Press 1997) and UFOs and
Alien Abduction: Two Centuries of Controversy, with R.E. Bartholomew
(Prometheus Books 1998). Articles by Howard have appeared
in American Psychologist, Journal of Counseling Psychology,
Counseling Psychologist, and other journals. He has been a
fellow of the Kroc Institute since 1994.
