Denis Goulet (Ph.D.
University of São Paulo, Brazil, 1963) studies development
ethics, comparative development strategies, environmental
economics, and development indicators. Goulet has been involved
in participatory action research projects in many locations
around the world. Major publications include "Ethical
Analysis in Development Economics," Crossing the Mainstream,
Amitava K. Dutt and Kenneth P. Jameson, eds. (University of
Notre Dame Press, 2001); "What is a Just Economy in a
Globalized World?" International Journal of Social Economics,
2002; The Cruel Choice: A New Concept in the Theory of Development
(University Press of America, 1985), The Uncertain Promise:
Value Conflicts In Technology Transfer (New Horizons Press,
1989), Development Ethics: A Guide to Theory and Practice
(The Apex Press, 1995) and Desarrollo Economico, Desarrollo

Culturales Del Desarrollo (Fundación Friedrich Ebert,
1996). He has been a fellow of the Kroc Institute since 1986.
