Call for Papers: Special Sessions in Honour of Ann Dooley and David Klausner
Celtic Studies Association of North America Annual Meeting
April 18-21, 2013
University of Toronto, jointly hosted by the Centre for Medieval Studies, St. Michael's College and Trinity College
In honour of the distinguished and influential careers of Toronto Celticists Ann Dooley and David Klausner, we are inviting abstracts for two special sessions at CSANA 2013. In consideration of the broad-ranging nature of their work, specific themes have not been assigned for the sessions; however, the intention is that the themes of the papers should intersect in some way with the research of either Ann Dooley or David Klausner. Papers that connect the honourees’ work – such as Ann Dooley’s translation of the Acallam na Senórach or David Klausner’s research on drama and performance in medieval Wales – to current trends and developments in the field of Celtic Studies are particularly welcome. Although it is by no means a requirement, former students of Ann Dooley and David Klausner are especially encouraged to apply. Abstracts that are not selected will be forwarded to the general CSANA Call for Papers.
Please submit a 200-300 word abstract via email by 15 December 2012 to:

Annual Meetings
CSANA sponsors a a three- to four-day conference each spring. Venues have included the University of Chicago, UCLA, Harvard University, the University of California at Berkeley, St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, the University of Washington, the University of Ottawa, the University of Georgia, the City University of New York, Virginia Polytechnic University, the University of Notre Dame, McGill University, the University of Toronto, the University of Cincinnati, and Colgate University.
The annual meetings afford CSANA members, university faculty, graduate students, and independent scholars alike the opportunity to present papers on any topic in the field of Celtic Studies to an interested audience of Celticists; here we can refine ideas, enhance research, and make meaningful connections. Every effort is made to avoid concurrent sessions, so that all participants in the conference can hear every paper.
In addition to the papers submitted by members, CSANA meetings often feature invited lectures by distinguished Celtic scholars from North America and abroad. These lectures give CSANA members the opportunity to meet and discuss their work with world-renowned Celticists.
Another feature of the annual meeting is the seminar on a text selected at the previous year's conference. This is an informal discussion by all conference participants, and its aim is to enhance each reader's understanding of the text and to share ideas for presenting it in the classroom.
Finally, the meetings are a rare and delightful chance for Celticists from all over North America and the world to mingle and chat informally about our work. Most of us find that conference coffee hours, receptions, and dinners are among the most valuable experiences of the meeting.
