Ray Sepeta

I was born and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. I spent a large part of my youth trying to solve math problems and doing science projects like building telescopes.

In 1966 I competed in the NCAA Wrestling Tournament with the U.S. Military Academy team which finished tenth.  Ten years later, I coached the University of Notre Dame's wrestling team for five years.

In 1975 I completed a Ph.D. in mathematics based on my analysis of the finite Chevalley group E7. My dissertation was part of the program to classify the finite simple groups.

In 1977 I began my career in academic advising. I enjoy very much the process of helping young adults make informed and intelligent decisions about their lives and the directions they take.
