What is collaborative learning?
Groups of students (usually 4-6 per group) come together to work on homework or other related problems. In the process of talking with each other and sharing their ideas, they come to a better understanding of the course material. The focus is on problem-solving methods. Resource leaders monitor the sessions, encourage problem-solving and collaboration among group members, and answer questions when appropriate. The collaborative program includes groups in Math, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. It is open to all first-year students. Attendance Policy: Participants are expected to attend all sessions. If you are unable to attend a session, call LRC at 631-5294 to obtain an excused absence. Two absences will result in dismissal and readmission will not be guaranteed for the remainder of the semester. To register for a collaborative learning group, contact your advisor or stop by the Learning Resource Center, second floor, Coleman-Morse Center.
