Daniel I. Castro, Jr., Managing Director
Structured Finance

   

Mr. Castro joined the structured finance group of GSC Partners in 2005.  Dan has over 23 years experience in Structured Finance Products.  Mr. Castro is the Chief Credit Officer of GSC’s Structured Finance Group and the Chief Investment Officer of GSC Capital Corp., a REIT managed by GSC Partners.  He sits on several investment committees at GSC, including Structured Finance, Eliot Bridge (hedge fund), GSC Capital, Corporate Credit Group, European CLO, and High Yield Real Estate. 

From 1991 to 2004, he was employed by Merrill Lynch in various capacities, most recently as Managing Director, Structured Finance Research. Prior to Merrill Lynch, he was a Senior Analyst, Structured Transactions at Moody’s Investor’s Service. Mr. Castro also spent four years with Citigroup in various capacities. He was a member every year, since its inception in 1992 until he left Merrill Lynch in 2004, of the Institutional Investor All-American Fixed Income Research Team. Mr. Castro also ranked on the first team for ASB Strategy twice. Dan graduated from Notre Dame University with a B.A. degree in Government/International Relations and from Washington University with a M.B.A. degree.
  Brian Gallagher, Managing Partner

Mr. Gallagher co-founded Twin Bridge Capital Partners in 2005.  He shares responsibility for all aspects of the firm’s investment activities.  Mr. Gallagher has over 17 years of overall work experience and more than 11 years of experience in the middle-market buyout industry.  During his career, Mr. Gallagher has invested in numerous private equity funds and nearly $300 million in equity co-investments.

Before co-founding Twin Bridge Capital Partners, Mr. Gallagher was a Principal with UIB Capital, Inc., where he was responsible for leading private equity operations in the United States.  From 1997 to 2005, Mr. Gallagher was a Partner at PPM America Capital Partners, where he was responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and closing private equity co-investments and fund commitments as a part of a $2.2 billion private equity program.    From 1990 to 1997, Mr. Gallagher worked for Arthur Andersen LLP.  Most recently, he served in the Corporate Finance Group, focusing on accounting acquisition due diligence for private equity sponsors. 

Mr. Gallagher is a past board member of Magnequench, Inc., Nth Degree Global, LLC and WNC First Insurance, Inc.  He also held board observer rights for numerous investments while at PPMACP.  Mr. Gallagher earned his MBA at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and a BA in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a Certified Public Accountant.  Mr. Gallagher is a member of the CFA Institute, the AICPA and the Association for Corporate Growth.
  Gary R. Garrabrant, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder

Mr. Garrabrant oversees all of the Company's activities and investment portfolio. He is also executive vice president of Equity Group Investments, L.L.C. (EGI), the privately-held investment company founded and led by Sam Zell. Mr. Garrabrant joined EGI in 1996.

Mr. Garrabrant has extensive real estate, investment management and banking experience. He led the acquisition of California Real Estate Investment Trust and the creation of Capital Trust (NYSE:CT) where he served as vice chairman and director. He was also involved in the consolidation of the four Zell/Merrill Lynch Opportunity Funds which led to the creation of Equity Office Properties Trust (NYSE:EOP). Prior to joining EGI, Mr. Garrabrant co-founded and led Genesis Realty Capital Management, a real estate securities investment management firm based in New York. Mr. Garrabrant was a senior real estate investment banker with Chemical Bank followed by The Bankers Trust Company from 1981 to 1994.

Mr. Garrabrant is vice chairman and director of Homex (NYSE:HXM), chairman of Gafisa (NYSE:GFA) and a director of Equity International. He is also a member of the Kellogg Institute for International Studies Advisory Board at the University of Notre Dame and the Real Estate Advisory Board at Cambridge University.

Mr. Garrabrant graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.B.A. in finance and completed the Dartmouth Institute at Dartmouth College.

  James J. Higgins
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sorin Capital Management
   

Jim Higgins is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sorin Capital Management, an alternative investment management firm specializing in the creation and management of fixed income hedge funds. From March 1997 to January 2004, Mr. Higgins was Senior Managing Director and co-Head of Bear Stearns’ CMBS/Commercial Mortgage business, where he was responsible for all capital commitment, new issuance, securitization, secondary trading, structuring and research for CMBS, commercial mortgage whole loans and commercial real estate CDOs. Prior to Bear Stearns he was a trader for Smith Barney and began his career as a commercial real estate lender for American National Bank, a subsidiary of First Chicago. He has over 13 years experience in the CMBS industry and more than 18 years experience in commercial real estate.

Mr. Higgins has an MBA with a concentration in Real Estate Finance from the University of Texas and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame.

  Craig Hustings, Chief Investment Officer
Public School and Public Employee Retirement Systems of Missouri
   

Craig Husting is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for the Public School and the Public Employee Retirement Systems of Missouri.  As CIO, he directs the management of the Systems’ $31 billion investment portfolio. Mr. Husting joined the Retirement Systems as CIO in January 1999.

Prior to that, Mr. Husting was the Director of Investments and Deposit Programs for the Missouri State Treasurer’s Office where he managed all aspects of the State’s $3.5 billion investment portfolio. Mr. Husting has also worked in county government as the Deputy Treasurer for the Johnson County, KS government.  Mr. Husting began his career in finance in 1989 with Ernst and Young’s national cash management consulting practice.

Mr.  Husting earned an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and a B.A. degree from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.  He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a permanent Certified Cash Manager (CCM).
  Mike Kelly, Chief Acquisitions Officer

Mike Kelly joined Dividend Capital Group in August 2006, and is the Chief Acquisitions Officer of Dividend Capital Total Realty Trust.

Mr. Kelly brings 17 years of professional experience to Dividend Capital with expertise in both private and public commercial real estate operating companies. Over the course of his career he has directly sourced and closed real estate transactions with an aggregate value of more than $2.6 billion across 20 different cities within the United States.

Prior to joining Dividend Capital Total Realty Trust, Mr. Kelly was Senior Vice President and Director of Acquisitions and Dispositions for United Dominion Realty Trust (NYSE: UDR), where he was a member of the company’s investment committee and was responsible for an acquisitions and dispositions group that closed more than $1.6 billion in transactions. Previously, Mr. Kelly was Senior Vice President at Urdang & Associates, where he sourced and closed multifamily transactions consisting of more than 4,100 units and 19 properties across five cities. Prior to Urdang & Associates, Mr. Kelly held various real estate positions at Lend Lease Real Estate Investments and Apartment Realty Advisors.

Mr. Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame and obtained his Certified Public Accountant designation in 1992.

Ian has over 15 years of experience in private equity. Prior to forming Maranon, Ian was at American Capital Strategies, Ltd. from April 2003 through June 2006. Ian was a Managing Director and served as a member of the American Capital Investment Committee. While at American Capital, Ian served on the boards of directors of Kester, Milton's Baking Company LLC, SmithBucklin and nSpired Natural Foods, Inc.

Prior to joining American Capital, Ian spent 11 years with William Blair Capital Partners, the last seven years as a Managing Director. William Blair Capital Partners is a private equity fund based in Chicago with over $1 billion in capital under management. While at William Blair Capital Partners he invested in 15 lower middle market companies. Ian served on the board of directors of American Blind & Wallpaper Factory; Apropos; CARA; Extended Care Information Network, Inc.; Morton Grove Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; SmithBucklin; CADSI; and Sweetwater Sound.

Before joining William Blair Capital Partners in 1992, Mr. Larkin spent three years working in investment banking at William Blair & Company and Dean Witter.

Scott C. Malpass is vice president and chief investment officer at the University of Notre Dame, responsible for the investment management of the Notre Dame Endowment and other assets totaling some $6.5 billion as of June 2007. The endowment of nearly $5.8 billion is the 15th largest in American higher education and the largest at a Catholic university.

Having served as chief investment officer since 1989, Mr. Malpass is recognized as one of the leading CIO’s in the nation and among the longest serving at any major university. He works closely with his outstanding internal investment team and the investment committee of the University's Board of Trustees in partnering with the most sophisticated investment management organizations throughout the world. The portfolio is widely diversified, with one of the highest allocations to alternative assets within the endowment community, and has accomplished top tier investment performance over both short and long-term time periods earning some 15% per year over the past 15 years.

For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2000, the endowment returned a record 57.9 percent, the highest return for any American university and the subject of extensive media coverage in The Wall Street Journal, The Chronicle of Higher Education, U.S. News & World Report, The New York Times, and on CNBC. Mr. Malpass is a frequent guest on CNBC discussing important events in the capital markets and how leading endowment funds invest their funds. The University is recognized for its leadership in international, private capital and alternative investing, and its philosophy of building relationships with leading edge investment management firms from around the world.

Mr. Malpass is a 1984 Notre Dame graduate and received a master of business administration degree from the University in 1986. He returned in 1988 from the Wall Street firm, Irving Trust Company, and became chief investment officer the following year when the University's endowment stood at $425 million.

Mr. Malpass is a concurrent assistant professor of finance in the Mendoza College of Business at Notre Dame. In 1995, he helped develop the award winning Applied Investment Management course in the College for outstanding students in finance that has received extensive interest from financial services firms throughout the country. Mr. Malpass is a director or advisory council member for several investment and charitable organizations. He serves on the investment advisory committee for Major League Baseball and for the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD).

Mike Moynihan is a partner in the Business Law Services practice group and his area of focus includes Real Estate and Land Use.

Mr. Moynihan co-heads the Real Estate and Land Use practice group. In addition, he is the Chairman of the Firm's Recruiting Committee. =

Mr. Moynihan focuses his practice on a broad range of commercial real estate and financing transactions. A significant portion of his practice involves the representation of developers of large-scale commercial, residential and mixed-use developments, principally in major metropolitan areas. His development team responsibilities include operating entity formation and capitalization, project financing, construction contracting, investor relations, project planning and project documentation. Mr. Moynihan also represents clients, on a national basis, in the acquisition, financing and leasing of office properties, retail centers and other real property assets.

In 2006, Mr. Moynihan was profiled as one of 40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 to Watch in a publication by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company (publisher of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and the Chicago Lawyer).

  Mark W. Yusko, President & Chief Investment Officer

    Mark Yusko formed Morgan Creek Capital Management in July 2004 to provide investment advisory services based on the University Endowment model of investment management to a wide range of clients. Prior to forming MCCM, Mark served as the chief investment officer for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1998 to 2004. He and his team founded the UNC Management Company in July 2002 to provide comprehensive investment advisory services to the University including strategic and tactical asset allocation recommendations to the Board, investment manager selection, manager performance evaluation, spending policy management and performance reporting. Total assets under management were $1.5 billion ($1.2 billion of Endowment and $300 million of University working capital).

Prior to joining UNC, Mark was with the University of Notre Dame Investment Office from October 1993. He had been involved in all aspects of endowment management at both universities including asset allocation, investment manager selection, manager performance evaluation, spending policy management and reporting to the Board of Trustees. At ND, he was primarily responsible for portfolio construction and was actively involved in establishing and building strong programs in real estate, private equity and marketable alternatives. Mark received his BS, with honors, in biology and chemistry from the University of Notre Dame in 1985 and an MBA in accounting and finance from the University of Chicago in 1987.
