Description of Position

Student will be responsible for assisting the Dismas staff with fund development to include: grant research & preparation, fund raising events, recruiting donors and sponsors and promoting events through the media.

Qualifications

Must be reliable and organized, and be energetic with a positive attitude. Must have good communication and computer skills. Must be able to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Must be eligible for the Federal Work Study Program.

Dismas of Michiana is a reentry program for men and women recently released from incarceration. Dismas of Michiana, a non-profit organization, provides housing and services to former offenders so they can successfully renter society. At Dismas House, former offenders and local college student live together in a family setting. They receive support from hundreds of volunteers and dedicated staff. Since opening in 1986 Dismas House has been home to 500 former offenders and 100 college students. In partnership with the Junior League of South Bend, Dismas of Michiana also conducts an off-site support group for women, who are on parole, probation or in a pre-trial diversion program orin a county jail.
