Welcome Members Pictures Alumni Faltos Only News

Welcome to the Falto Webpage!

Welcome to the official site of the Notre Dame Faltos! Often called Mellophones or Marching French Horns in other bands, the University of Notre Dame Marching Band is the only place where you can be a Falto! Priding ourselves on being the most unified section in the band, we are a family that goes beyond the practice field. To find out more about what the Faltos are about, take a look around this site. Here you can find lots of pictures of us on and off the field, recent Falto news, and alumni and current member listings. Thanks for visiting and we hope to see you on Game Day!

"A Falto, also known as a Mellophone, Marching French Horn, F-Alto Horn, is the greatest of all marching band instruments. It takes something special to be able to play the Falto. Not just anyone can. That's why the Saxophone was invented."

The infamous Falto Sit Circle. Very few people come out of it without a dangerously increased sense of section pride and unity.
If you would like to perform each week during the fall with the oldest collegiate marching band in front of 80,000 people then maybe you should tryout... Besides home games we also play at a few away games each year hopefully including a bowl game! There are also other bands that you can participate in including the Varsity Band (performs at basketball and hockey games), Concert Band, Jazz Band, and several other ensembles.
To make the marching band we come to school about a week early to do a marching and music audition during band camp. All necessary marching techniques are taught during camp so that no previous marching experience is required. If you are a high school senior and would like to be a Falto next year, please email ndband@nd.edu for audition information. If you want to find out more about what our section is like write to faltos@nd.edu or sign our message board. Also be sure to visit the ND Band site for more information.
