Leading the Cheer

According to Kevin Braun, a senior in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, “Being the Leprechaun has been a wild and thoroughly enjoyable experience.” Braun, a native of Landisville, Penn., has spent the past year encouraging team spirit and juggling the commitments of homework (algorithm sets) with road games, meeting Irish fans, and “being close to the action.”

Braun would like to teach high school math, but his immediate plans after graduation include hopes of being accepted into the University’s Alliance for Catholic Education or Teach for American programs.

Prior to the Leprechaun being named the official mascot in 1965, Irish Terriers represented the Notre Dame teams.
