NOTRE DAME RESEARCH WORKSHOP ON 
RACE, ETHNICITY, ACTIVISM, AND PROTEST
Requirements and Benefits

(1) A weekend orientation retreat to be held in or around South Bend, Indiana near the beginning of the academic school year.

(2) Taking a 3-hour course both semesters of the school year:

a. For University of Notre Dame and Saint Mary's College students, the class is Sociology 391.

b. For students from Indiana University South Bend and Bethel College, the class will be a 3-hour Independent Study (each semester) with a professor from your home school that agrees to co-facilitate the Independent Study with Professor Rory McVeigh at the University of Notre Dame.

(3) Development of a research proposal during the first semester of participation and completion of the proposed research project during the second semester.

(4) Presentation of your final project at a conference or sociology department seminar.

(5) Employment in the project equivalent to 10 hours per week for approximately 13 weeks of 2 semesters at $10 per hour.



The Research Workshop is coordinated by Prof. Rory McVeigh and Prof. Dan Myers of the Department of Sociology.
