The Christian Scholars Program introduced three new programs, The Collaborative Research Projects, The Erasmus Institute Book Prize, and the Christian Scholars Lecture Series, in June 2000. All three programs seek to enrich Christian scholarship, draw upon the work of Christian scholars and scholarship done in the Judeo-Christian tradition, and to bring the fruits of this scholarship more fully into the academic mainstream and to the attention of the public community.

The Collaborative Research Projects are designed to identify topics of central importance to the academy and to encourage cutting edge scholarship on these topics from a Judeo-Christian perspective. Currently eight teams, one each in Law, History, Literature, Philosophy, Psychology, Politics, Economics and Sociology are constructing projects that address the ways in which a Judeo-Christian perspective on "The Nature of the Human Person" might contribute to current debates within their respective disciplines.

The goal of The Erasmus Institute Book Prize is to reward and publicize outstanding scholarship that applies the intellectual traditions of Christianity, Judaism, or Islam to an important problem rooted in the social sciences, humanities, or art. A prize of $20,000 will be awarded each spring at a ceremony in New York city. PLEASE NOTE: BOOK PRIZE WILL NO LONGER BE AWARDED.

The Christian Scholars Lecture Series is designed to publicize outstanding scholarship and to enrich the resources available to Christian scholarly groups at major universities and liberal arts colleges. PLEASE NOTE: NO NEW LECTURES WILL BE FUNDED.
