FACULTY POSITION
The Department of Civil Engineering and Geological
Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position in a discipline related to
geologic/hydrologic processes at the surface or shallow subsurface. Research
specialization should complement one or more of the Department's strengths in
geochemistry, environmental fluid mechanics, environmental hydrology/hydrogeology,
and planetary evolution. Therefore, we seek candidates with expertise in areas such as,
but not limited to, physical and chemical transport modeling, computational geosciences,
coastal and general landform development/surficial processes, and near-surface
geophysics. Candidates should have a strong dedication to excellence in teaching and
research. The appointment is expected to be at the assistant professor level, but
appointments at a higher rank are possible for exceptionally well-qualified candidates.
The Department of Civil Engineering and Geological Sciences has several well-equipped
research laboratories and further information about the Department and its facilities can
be found at www.nd.edu/~cegeos/. Applicants should send a letter describing their
research and teaching interests, a copy of their curriculum vita, and a list of four
references to Earth Processes Search, Professor Peter Burns, Chair, Department of Civil
Engineering and Geological Sciences, 156 Fitzpatrick Hall, University of Notre Dame,
Notre Dame, IN 46556-0767. Review of applications will begin immediately, but
applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The University of Notre Dame is
an Equal Opportunity Employer.
