Facilities
Galvin
Life Science Center – serves as a central
focus of the department, housing the departmental office,
the major research facilities, and the laboratories of
the biological sciences faculty.
Freimann
Life Science Center – animal facility
adjacent to Galvin supporting biomedical research with
humane animal care, compliance with regulations, accepted
guidelines, and accreditation standard.
Galvin Library – this facility within the Galvin building houses the university’s life science library holdings and terminals for access to network resources.
Greenhouses & Growth Chambers – the third floor of the Hank Wing in Galvin houses five greenhouses and four growth chambers for research applications that require controlled environmental conditions. A greenhouse committee collectively manages these resources.
Hank Wing – newest addition to
the Galvin building supporting environmental science;
unique laboratory and greenhouse units designed for this
field-based research.
Optics Facility – common facility
housing transmission and scanning electron microscopes,
two confocal microscopes, fluorescence microscopes, and
digital imaging equipment.
UNDERC -- University of Notre Dame Environmental Research Center, 7345 acres of pristine north-central ecosystems that is a resource for environmental research.

Jordan
Hall – Located just to the East of Galvin Center, it
supports laboratory instruction in the Sciences and
became operational Fall semester, 2006.
CEST
-- Center for Environmental Science and Technology, analytical
chemical instrumentation to support a variety of research
in the Colleges of Science and Engineering.
Lazzardo
NMR facility – located in Nieuwland
Hall, this facility has instrumentation to allow detailed
structural determinations of biologically important macromolecules.
