Ploting graph with Mathematica is easy. Here are some examples:
1. Plot[ Sin[x] - 1/3 Sin[3x] + 1/5 Cos[5x], {x, 0, Pi}] (This plots one function from 0 to Pi) 2. Plot[ {x^2 + 3x -x^(-0.5), 2x + 3 + 0.5 x^(-1.5)}, {x, 0.3, 3}] (This plots two functions from 0.3 to 3) 3. To integrate or to find anti-derivatives in x, use Integrate[ x^3 + x^2 - Sin[2x], x] Make sure you use numerical enter key when entering commands. Do not use the usual return key.The university has purchased a site licence for all students to use Mathematica. You can download this software at https://oit.nd.edu/software/licenseinfo/index.shtml (click on Mathematica 6 for Students) and install it on your PC or Mac following the instruction. If you have any problem on installation, please contact OIT help desk 631-8111 during the regular service hours M-F 8 am to 5 pm.

Calculators: Calculators are not allowed on any of our exams. You may use your calculators for homeworks, but it is strongly recommended that you do not rely on any of the graphing functions on the calculator.

Class Attendance: A first-year student who accumulates 4 or more unexcused absences may be given an F.
Tutorials: The Thursday tutorials are mandatory. Quizzes will be conducted during the tutorial sessions, and homeworks are collected in the tutorials. Quizzes and homeworks count a total of 50 points towards your final grade. There are no tutorial sessions on Oct 18, the date of exam 2. See the homework schedule for the special arrangement for that week.
Homeworks: Homework problems are already assigned for each class meeting. Homework problems will be collected during the Thursday's tutorials. You are encouraged to work on homework problems in groups, but the assignments must be turned in individually. Remember that you will not learn anything by simply copying another student's work or the Student Solutions Manual. The main purpose of the homework is to help you learn the material. Experience shows that students who take their homework seriously do very well in the course because they have a better understanding of the material. No late homeworks will be allowed without the written permission from your instructor.
Missed exams: Note that there will be three Midterm Exams and a Final Exam. A student who misses an examination will receive zero points for that exam unless he or she has written permission from the Dean of the First Year of Studies. Please be aware that travel plans, sleeping in, defective alarm clocks etc are not considered to be a valid excuse by the Dean of the First year of Studies! If you have a valid excuse (illness, excused athletic absence etc) for missing an exam, please see your instructor ASAP (preferably before the exam) and a makeup exam will be scheduled.
Exam conflicts: The exam conflicts are governed by
Academic code. According to Section 14.2,
students with 3 or more finals in one day, or
4 or more finals in a 24 hour period, may negotiate to change
the time of one of these finals. If you intend to request to have the time
of your Math 10350 final changed, you must talk to your instructor by
Nov 16.

While discussion in small groups in doing homework is permitted (and
strongly encouraged) in this course, the work should be your own.
Exams are closed book and are to be done completely
by yourself with no help from others.

"collaborative learning", "tutoring", and "help" sessions.
