Undergraduate Special Studies Research Opportunities
in Discrimination and Social Inequity

Have you ever felt some people see discrimination where you’d say it doesn’t exist? Can you also think of some instances in which you thought someone was hesitant to call an instance of discrimination for what it is? What are the contextual factors that influence perceptions of events?  Why is that people perceive the same event differently?  What are the immediate and long-term effects of perceiving discrimination in the environment, and is ignorance really bliss?  Our lab team is conducting a number of studies related to understanding the conditions under which discrimination is perceived and what the psychological effects of discrimination are.  If you have an interest in racism, sexism, homophobia, racial profiling, or any type of social inequity and want to learn more about it, we encourage you to consider talking to us about joining our research team.
